Taig v Peatol

Hi - With regard to Taig micro mill http://www.taigtools.com/mmill.html or the cnc version http://www.taigtools.com/cmill.html I know the UK distributer is peatol but has anyone imported one from the US. If so I'd be interested in what import duty charges etc. I'd be likely to pay.

TIA

Hiya

I looked into it, I was looking at £100 shipping and at least £200 import tax/Duty depending what category they put it into.

I bought the peatol machine and Im very happy with it, it works out about the same, but if you have problems with the mill itself, peatol is just a phone call away, the same can be said if you need spare parts.

They sell the Mill and the CNC kit and also the ER-16 spindle, although I think i may upgrade to a kress fairly soon.

Hi - thanks for the info.

Have you cnc'd it?
which kress are you thinking of getting. The ER-16 does sound a bit wimpy.

Hiya

yep all CNC'd, it's making pcb's right now.

I was looking at the 800w kress, plus the bracket from L.S.Caine, Im only upgrading for the Extra RPM, the er-16 spindle is fine, can take upto 10mm tooling, it's just that the 220V motor Peatol supplies is under 5000rpm.

I am on the lookg out for a compatible 4th axis if you see any around, i know people use the sherline ones but it needs a bracket I think, plus I can't find any in the UK

Have you seen the 4" rotary table with stepper motor from Arc Euro Trade (http://www.arceurotrade.co.uk/) under index heading of workholding?
Good bit: it mounts either way, horizontal or vertical.
Bad bit: I asked them about it last month and they couldn't give me a date for new stock coming in.
Regards
Graham

looks like they are back in stock, wish it was not so near xmas.

for anyone else with a Taig/peatol mill

i upgraded to a 800w Kress and is much better, i bought the mount from L S Caine services in the UK, a little pricy i thought but very well made and sturdy mount.

great if you need more than the 10000rpm the er-16 spindle can handle
