Hi all,
I am an amateur metalworker with a small hobby lathe and I have a question!
I need to turn down the shank of a 12mm HSS end mill to fit an 8mm collet. Due to constrictions of bed length I can't use a normal jacobs chuck in the tailstock - hence my reason for using a 1MT collet designed for 8mm shank.
Anyway I hope to use my Carbide tipped tools - is this feasable. I have been told that I should use a negative rake on the bit - any more advice would be most welcome!
