OD engraving?

I've never needed to use OD engraving up until now and I can't figure it out. I no longer have support and I'm hoping that someone from here can lend a helping hand. I'm sure it's pretty simple but I can't figure it out...please help. Hopefully it's simple.

What do you want to know? 3 axis, 4 axis?

Are you engraving on a cylinder? Is this a lathe part? What version are you running?

Yes, this is a lathe part and we will be engraving on the cylinder. I am running Esprit 2005 at my current shop and with access to 2008 at my buddy's place. We will surely be upgrading our maintenance package to 2008after I can prove that the upgrade is cost effective.

2005's a long time ago, but... to engrave an X at 0 degrees, for example:

Create a chain feature on the ZXY plane at Z0. Use Wrap Contouring to specify the machining parameters.

Thanks. That sounds simple enough...I was trying to do it through the engrave feature on the upper tabs. I guess all I need to do is create text in the ZXY plane orientate the way I want it and just use wrap contouring. Thanks again and it helps a ton.
