Default Fiberglass chopped strands in the mixture ?

Yes or no and why ? What size ?
Did anybody give it a try ?
What are the pros and cons ?
I would like to make my first EG based machine using as much composite materials as possible and I am looking for the best recipe.
I have a lot of experience in working with carbon fibre and related stuff but this will be the first try on making EG parts.

    Not sure about that idea.
Yes, the glass might add strength in theory, but I don't think that strength ever missing in an EG construction.
You might find that the glass strands will prevent the granite (sand, etc) from packing together quite as well, and that would be bad.

I've tried mixing them in for test samples.

They do not want to get mixed in.
I think because they are so thin they stick together much better than the sand particle do and as a result they accumulate at the bottom of the container, where they have something else that is easier to adhere to than sand. (smooth surface)

This was for very dry mixes but I thing the same would go for mixes with completely filled voids.

Looks like a double loud and clear NO. Will not add then, thank you.
BTW, aluminium powder and carbon fiber worked, I have made some tests just for fun a while ago. Looking great, but much more expensive than EG. Not sure about the properties, weight and elastic modulus must be in the same range. (I think)

Aluminium/epoxy blend - would have a large coeff of thermal expansion I think. E/G is less.

    Cheers
