How many people have seen glowing accounts about the Tesla electric car that is supposed to run on kazzilions of cell phone batteries, or something kooky like that?

That is unfortunate. They were wise to start with the feather light Lotus as a platform but they are getting mired down in the retail aspects it seems. Too bad because I bet that car is a hoot to drive.
