Anywhere but in a planned suburb, a dead tree is one call to a Tree Service away from the wood chipper.

And honestly, in a neighborhood where you'd get fined for not mowing your grass, I'd think they'd be on you for a dead tree too.

There ARE no Federal Tree Preservation laws that affect private land.

Public land, yes. Loggers need to pay a fee for logging off public land.
Many communities have restrictions pertaining to private property.

The Lake Tahoe Angora fire nearly destroyed the whole community because of restrictions on clearing brush and trees that were on private land. One homeowner had a dead tree leaning against her house and regulations prevented her from having it moved. The town council's environmental thinking behind the ludicrous restrictions was "To keep nature as original as possible" plus the undertow reason to force people out of their homes in an area that the 'greenies' didn't want anyone to live in. After the fire, the governing bodies lightened up and pulled back some of the restrictions but many are still in place.

In one state, you don't even have the right to collect rain water that falls on your property.
http://findarticles.com/p/articles/m.../ai_n19392292/

Even the United Nations, [again], is sticking their nose into your property...
http://sovereignty.net/p/land/unproprts.htm

I realize that in your small, closed, myopic world, you still have all the rights that used to be considered sacrosanct, but for we people that live in the real world, subject to the unfettered nannie state bureaucrats, the government is slowly redefining rights to zero.............

Mariss

In Jkirk3279's post #6238 He stated

"B) It's no technical challenge to build Solar Farms. Been there, done that..."

So one can assume that he is in the Solar Farm industry and is hawking his trade in order to keep him above water. I have no problems with any alternate energy but to use Al Gorish tactics to push one's own interest upon the populace at the detriment of others seems to preclude his own arguments...

Exclamation Another problem solved by global warming

From Africa to the Himalayas, everyone's worried about global warming's potential to drive world conflict. But what about the disputes it will solve? A long-running argument between India and Bangladesh over a small island in the Bay of Bengal has just been resolved: the island's not there anymore:

New Moore Island [also known as South Talpatti] in the Sunderbans has been completely submerged, said oceanographer Sugata Hazra, a professor at Jadavpur University in Calcutta. Its disappearance has been confirmed by satellite imagery and sea patrols, he said.

"What these two countries could not achieve from years of talking, has been resolved by global warming," said Hazra.

Then the shore lines of the surrounding countries must also be drastically changed. This was on the news last night and the evidence shows that the sea didn't rise, the islands sank just as others have .... unless you and they are saying that there is a rise in just a small part of the world's oceans...........

You forgot natural gas.

I don't think CA has built anything but NG power plants in the last 15 years or so because of the greens having control of the permitting process.

This is part of the reason they were having the blackouts all over. Their was a shortage/price run up from them using all of the NG from Canada. The cost went through the roof and the power companies just couldn't pay the prices so they had to limit supply and so it goes. Rolling blackouts.

I live in AZ and had a buddy that worked on some of the NG peak-er plants over their. Many started out as in house power plants for industry. They would have their own large NG generator and sell some of the power back to the utilities if needed. They soon found out this was a great way to make a buck and added many more units to sell for peak power. They already had the permits so it was time to make a killing because of government stupidity.

This is a small one.

I do think it would be a much better idea to use nuclear for electricity and use the NG for the big trucks and perhaps the larger autos because it burns much cleaner than all that blended MTBE crud they use.

Their must be a special feeling watching one of those 5,000 HP turbines suck down thousands of CF per minuet of NG and the high RPM wine and the blast of CO2...

It makes me kind of misty eyed.

Her is a big one.

Hey Dufa, re post#6241, about the Colorado water restriction where ya' aint allowed to collect rain water 'cos someone is going to collect it and sell it back to youse, now that's what I call living in the land of the free, that is, allowing anyone freedom to tax the living sh!te outta ya' just 'cos it's written on a bit of paper.

How did these rights get into someone's hands? Are ya' all a bunch o' wimps that allow a law to tie ya' up so tight?

At that rate ya' could be taxed or maybe fined for stealing for leaving ya' car out in the rain so's it got a "free" carwash.

How about just walking in the rain? Does that constitute stealing bath water?

If'n yo' people can make a law allowing that to happen with rain water, be carefull how ya' breathe, someone might just have an air purifier and claim that yo' bin' breathing their purified, homogenized, sanitized, ultra germ free air particles and get ya' into court where yo'll hafta pay some lawyer fella just to prove ya' bin holding ya' breath while traveling in the state of Cullerado, whatever......the mind boggles.
Ian.

BTW, I hear that all that electricity generated from wind turbines which was made from "free" wind, is going to be sold back to the people in whatever state it's collected in.

Is this the "land of the free" scenario ya'all bin trying to hoot to the rest of the world?

I'll bet there's even someone trying to get legislation passed that enables someone to charge yo'all for having the gravity that holds ya' down on the ground.

Tootle pip 'ol fruit, as they say in Texas, "if'n ya'all can't stand tha' heat, get off'n the ranch....yahoo....bet 'ol John Wayne couldn't have said it better, the hell he would'a.

Anyway, as I was saying I'd be a bit perturbed if'n our democratic enforcers or whoever passed a law that said I couldn't touch the rain water without a permit.

I expect that would apply to the Aborigines too.

Can you imagine an Aboriginal elder being told, "Don't touch the water mate, him belong big time white boss".

I wonder if'n that would apply to the Kangeroos too, be interesting trying to get a big Grey to stay outta the water hole.

Anyhow, I got it on good authority, what comes down from the sky, ANYWHERE IN OZ is A OK for collecting, no charge, not untill it gets into the dams and down the pipework and into my sink, then I gotta pay a bit.

I just installed a 5000 litre (about a 1000 gallons or so) water tank in the back garden behind the garage, and in one evening a week or so back when we had a storm like ya' wouldn't believe, hail big as golf balls, it got filled up, in just one evening only.

I'm thinking of getting another tank as the price just came down to $A690 and delivered free.

They're about 1.8 Metres in diam by 2.1 Metres high, made of plastic, that's a lot of water for the garden.

There's a Government subsidy for actually installing the tank and plumbing it up to my gutters etc and also if'n I connect the tank water to flush my toilet, so it's win win all the way to the bank, they don't call OZ the lucky country for nothing, the proof's in the pudding.
Ian.
