This is about retribution over the will of the people voting out a car tab tax based on some inflated blue book value and reverting it back to a $30/year base + passed local transportion proposals. This will add another $1000/year to my 3 vehicles.

This is just for section 1. When that expires section 2 kicks in.

The department shall adopt
13 rules for determining engine size in liters for vehicles that do not
14 have a manufacturer-provided engine size in liters.
15 (3) The vehicle engine displacement fee under this section is
16 imposed to provide funds to mitigate the impact of vehicle loads on the
17 state roads and highways, as well as encourage the reduction of vehicle
18 emissions
and is separate and distinct from other vehicle license fees.
19 (4) The vehicle engine displacement fee collected under this
20 section must be deposited into the multimodal transportation account.
21 NEW SECTION. Sec. 2. A new section is added to chapter 46.17 RCW
22 to read as follows:
23 (1) A vehicle emissions fee must be paid and collected annually for
24 motor vehicles subject to the fee under RCW 46.16.0621, except motor
25 homes. The amount of the fee must be based upon the grams of carbon
26 dioxide (CO2) emission per mile. Fees imposed under this section must
27 be used for transportation purposes, and may not be used for the
28 general support of state government.
The vehicle emissions fee is that
29 portion of the fee, as reflected on the grams of carbon dioxide (CO2)
30 emission per mile

The wording places GW as a secondary issue but bases the fee on CO2 grams or liters of displacement? WTF? They already have a gas tax to pay for the roads. About 46 cents a gallon. The only thing left is to fund the money pit light rail and bus services that do not support themselves. Which begs the question, if the actual cost of a public transportation system cannot survive on its own ridership fees, how efficient is it, really?

Hi everybody,
Here is an interesting tidbit: The Chinese Tallow Tree.
"It's #2 when it comes to Oil production as compared to Algae. Ranking in at 700 gallons/acre/year of capturable oil for BioDiesel production. Higher than Palm Oil (635 gal/acre/year) ". http://www.biodieselnow.com/forums/p...79.aspx#122879
They say that algae is the ultimate answer but needs more research. They're raising it (the Chinese tallow tree) here in the SE. So progress is being made. If we can just get a new administration in then that will be real progress. "More of the same McCain" and all bets are off. Obama or Hillery, I don't care which.
Take care,
xyzdonna

Hi Geof,
The lady doing the interview of T. Boone asked him that exact question, doesn't it take about as much energy to produce ethanol as you get out of it? He sort of hemhawed on that one. He acted like he didn't know that!

Why should he care if he can make money out of it? Wasn't he the one who tried to tie up the world's silver markets a few years back?

Yes.

And supposedly in old guys the long term memory is good and the short term bad...maybe I am not that old after all if my long term is bad; or is my logic a bit off?

Nah, there is only so much memory for useless trivia. As old as you are, it was probably over written with new useless trivia long ago. The only glitch in aging logic is not knowing it was ever gone and you never missed it!

When you start to introduce yourself to the same people every day, and say, "Have we met before?" .....then you need to worry.

Hi Geof,
I don't know about that but he was one of the financiers of the swift boat attacks on John Kerry, a blatant lie. He's a piece of garbage. Why do you think we haven't been attacked again by Al Qaeda? They can't believe their good fortune, this moron has done more damage to the United States than they in their wildest dreams could have pulled off!
Take care,

Come on Donna, nobody can be that stupid.....not even on purpose! You are trying to stir up political dissent again.

You failed. Miserably!

And here I thought it was because I couldn't take a tube of toothpaste in my carry-on baggage when flying any more.

But seriously, I think these two sentences are an insult to several thousand people who lost their lives on September 11. And a few thousand more in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The Democrat mind set.

Even blowing his nose, Obama gets applause
by John McCormick
DALLAS – It's probably safe to say that you have arrived as a politician when your audience applauds when you blow your nose.
Yes, just a day before a debate in Texas, Sen. Barack Obama has a head cold.
And about a half-hour into a speech here, the Illinois Democrat announced that he had to take a quick break. "Gotta blow my nose here for a second," Obama said.
Out came a Kleenex (or perhaps it was a hankie), and he wiped his nose.
The near-capacity audience at the Reunion Arena, which his campaign said totaled 17,000, broke out in applause.
