Parametrics

Does Enroute have parametric part creation/nesting ability? I'm used to Router-Cim Automation which allows you to pick a macro and just give x,y,z, dimensions and it will draw the part according to the pre-written macro and nest/cut it with all the rest of your parts automatically.

We are a Enroute Distributor, and I know that Enroute will allow you to pick from the tool bar, choose draw and allow you to pick basic parts and enter a x,y and z value and with the plus or pro edition it will nest the parts. Let me know if this answers your post, or are you looking for something that is more of a integrated parts library, I believe there is such option. Please give us a call if we can help.

Thanks for the reply. It looks like we are getting a different router that comes with software. Enroute looks like it would have been interesting to learn.

Enroute does not have the parametric part capability that you describe nor is there an option to do so.
I do not know of any CAM packages that do. Most of the parametric parts design capabilities are part of a higher end CAD software package such as SolidWorks and the like

Thanks. Ended up going with the new Automation since that package has what I need. Parametrics on demand is a must for me.

Here is a reply from EJ at Scanvec, about the Parametric options that Enroute offers with Enroute 4

"EnRoute has a limited number of Parametric shapes that it supports out of the box that are part of the Part Wizard. This is the only parametric design support in EnRoute."

Additionally, customers can write the code for other Parametric shapes or Scanvec can write the code, but cost will vary based on the complexity of the part/parts to be added to the library

The 'Part Wizard' in Enroute which you are referencing allows for the quick design and output of various shapes such as gussets, etc. It has nothing to do at all with 'parametric design' which allows part geometry to be related from one part to another and when one value changes the mating part(s) are updated and output accordingly.

The 'Boxter Wizard' which is part of this flyout menu is as close to a 'true parametric' tool as you are going to get. The wizard allows you enter variables and the mating parts will update accordingly. As far as adjusting relationships between various geometry, this wizard only allows a certain degreee of latitude. The purpose of the wizard is to give users the option to fabricate a quick box or two. Is it intended for cabinet production, no.
