| I would guess either a photo-etch process or silk screen. One can't tell from the photo if it's etched or printed. Several years back I worked at a place that used a photo etch process to make similar ID plates for our machine and electrical devices. One needed either positive or negatives, a photo sensitive plate, and some developing chemicals. |

| That looks a little like laminated plastic with a thin black sheet bonded on top of a a white sheet. If so, an engraving cutter was probably used to cut through the black sheet and part way into the white sheet. See www.mcmaster.com page 1917 for an example, though there are lots of suppliers. | Years back I used to make printed circuit boards by silk screening and etching. Nowadays you can get it done cheaper and don't have to mess with the chemicals. However If I remember right I could carry .002" tolerance overall with a good metal chase and a real fine mesh stainless screen. I only had a couple hundred dollars into the whole outfit. This would put out real nice plates with a small outlay.
