Vanguard 3400

I'm apparently having a hardware problem. When I boot up my computer for my Vanguard 3400, the controller doesn't say "ready to receive". I then get a message that says "V3400 is inactive".

Getting New Hermes to help is hopeless. The guy told me the controller board was bad and that he'd send me the info to ship it to the company. He never did. One day I was fooling around with it, turned it on and it booted up. Now I'm having the same problem.

Is there an easy solution to this?

Not sure if there is a good way to discover what is going on. I have a 3400 that I just pulled the main board out of and rewired the controller to connect to the parallel port and I am running Mach3. You can check out the other vanguard post for more details.

I know the feeling well!!
Have the same machine with similar problems and very little experience with CNC. Retired too early to have acquired it at work.
The rep told me the chips in the boards are wearing out???Didn't know that could happen!!
Am wondering if the controller for a 3200 will operate the 3400?
Intend to contact the felow who has rewired his 3400 and is using another sys to run.

I read your reply and remembered another posting of yours where you offered a schematic for rewiring and am interested. I'm also nery new to all this CNC type stuff so increadable ignorant of it. If it doesn't take up your whole day could you please inform me as to what is a Mach3 and how does it function?
