Unhappy New Hermes EP controller module v3400

I have had an engraving machine (hermes v3400 release 2.07) serial parallel EP control module sent to me to engrave lable plates. It (the software) runs on win95plus (can i upgrade to win98 at least? ) but will not open communications with the control module, i am using LPT port 1 with an IRQ of 7 ( i have also tried LPT port 2 with an IRQ of 5). The control module powers up and displays that it is awaiting communication from the computer and the engraver runs thru its self test. Any ideas out there ? It is a company machine and we would rather not have to replace it due to the cost.

    answer to your question

Forgive my very poor English, I am using google translator to write you.
You can use windows xp with the Gravostyle 98 program. (can download you with e-mule)
I have a new hermes 3400 and functions me correctly in this way.
    Greetings, Diego.
