    EMC2 & Image to G-Code

    Anybody running EMC2 with Image to G-Code?

    I was justing looking at some of the work done with it on a 3 axis router, and was totally blown away. Its a 695 Meg download, and as near as I can tell its Linux based, but it may be worth setting up and dedicating a Linux box to run it.

    Image to G-Code with EMC2. I downloaded and burned a CD, and I am at a loss. The OS loads and runs fine, and the EMC2 files are all intact, but I don't understand how to use the Image to G-Code program. When I looked at the refferences it looks like a command line program. ie:

    program paramater data output

    Is that correct or am I missing something?

    i to downloaded ubuntu 8.04 live cd to check out this image to g code program and cant get it to run.I found the instructions for it but dont fully understand them.

    first it says to do this
    Add the following lines to the [FILTER] section of your .ini file to make AXIS automatically invoke image-to-gcode when you open a .png, .gif, or .jpg image:
    PROGRAM_EXTENSION = .png,.gif,.jpg Grayscale Depth Image
    png = image-to-gcode
    gif = image-to-gcode
    jpg = image-to-gcode

    where is the filter section of my .ini file loacated at?also i dont see a program called axis anywhere.I tried the command line and it just says file not found.

    GUI or gooey

    Axis is one of the GUI options in EMC2. I think it defaults to TkEMC. Look under the [DISPLAY] section of your .ini file.

    Not at a Linux box right now, but [FILTER] should be another section in your ini. You can just add in it in, but I don't recall what else is under that section. Perhaps someone else can shime in.

    Again, not near a Linux box. I will try my best from memory.

    If you have installed Ubuntu and EMC2, and have started EMC2 and saved a configuration at the "Copy COnfiguration?" prompt, you should find all your configuration files from your main menu PLACES, HOME FOLDER/EMC2/CONFIGS.

    If you chose BOSS or say STEPPER configuration, the ini would be BOSS.ini or STEPPER.ini.

    Hopefully someone logging in on Linux or has a better memory can chime in.
