does it happen on all area or just in specific area.

if still happen, check your ground.
Hello,
We bought a laser machine RS3040 from redsail about a year ago, we having a problem cause itīs not functioning right.
It burns Ok, but suddenly the laser jumps out of the path where it is supposed to burn. I tried reinstalling the software, checked the cables, adjusting the belt, cleaning the lenses but the problem remains.
Iīd appreciate if anyone can help us this matter.
Iīm attaching an image so you can see what the problem looks like.
Thank you,

It happens randomly. Sometimes it engraves a couple of letters Ok and then jumps. Sometimes it doest it just at the beginning. Sometimes it stays at one point without moving with the laser beam on. Sometimes it goes to the top and then hitting the bottom of the working area.
Iīve checekd the ground, even connecting the cable to a different ground source adn still does the same.
Thank you.
My Guess is that you have a loose wire or bad encoder on that axis.
Does it just do it in the verticle direction? or does it jump/freeze in the horizontal direction as well?
it does it mainly vertically. But sometimes it stops at certain point, with the laser beam on and doesnīt move burning the material.
Now, the laser beam is off, the redsail tech supporttold me that it could be the laser power unit or the laser tube that ran off.
So, since I donīt know the cause and they donīt either Iīm getting another one from another manufacturer, cause this one just lasted on year. And I see if I can get this one repaired. Do you know if thereīs any way to know if the laser tube is not working any more?
thanks.
By your second sentence the Laser would appear to be working. The Laser beam cannot cause a problem like this, it must be the positioning electronics or the beam delivery hardware.
With the machine turned off and unplugged, have you checked carefully through all of the hardware to see if there is something caught in one of the drive belts or cables. A small piece of scrap could be on a belt or pully causing this.
The stopping is a good indication of something jamming the delivery system.

Either the connections on the stepper motor drives have become loose (tighten the connections) or you are trying to engrave too fast and you are overrunning your stepper motors. The term is skipping steps.
2 things:
1) slow the cut or scan rate and try again. If that doesn't do it slow it down some more.
2) if the engraving time gets abusively long then try increasing the feed distance and you may get the same time with little or no compromise of quality,
Jim
