I am looking for a material that is easy to machine, easy to paint and can be used out side. MDF machines great for testing with but I know if I put it outside it is going to fall apart quickly, tried plywood but it takes to much work to clean up afterward. A plastic would be nice but any plastic I have used you can paint. Cost effective and easily acquired would be nice as well ![]() Thanks in advance. |

| I am cutting a lot of signs and I use sign foam or Kromecell. Sign foan is more expensive but will never rought. Kromecell less expensive but needs the right primer, Sherman Willams has a good primer for plastic. If you have any problems you can email me at dougub@comcast.net |

| I have heard if you thin down polyester resin, the stuff used on fibreglass, with acetone, add the hardener, pour this all over MDF it soaks right in/through and makes it machine even better, I don't know if this would then be suitable for outdoor use, but I intend to try one day. Russell. |

I have used this product in the past I liked it, but i cut signs for bigger companies and they rejected the material. It seem to have problems after about eight years. (so I am told)I think Kronecell is your best bet at $175.00 per sheet 4x8 3/4 It does have a draw back it tends to expand under high heat like power sanders not to bad of a draw back. But it carves very good |
