Guys, I got to know vphotograv since last month with one of my customer's help, I think its terrific, it makes the engraving quality much better, oh I would say its 2 or 3 times better than original. One of my customer in Indiana who bought a HX6090SE---rabbit laser from me, he got a software----phptpgrav and told me, I bought one copy and made a couple of files and converted in phtograv, its awesome, only limitation is that it only take bit map format, is there anyone familar with photograv who can share more experience here. | Hi Frank, I've been using PhotoGrav for many years now; however, I was tired of converting images to grayscale everytime; therefore, having a total of three copies of a large bitmap file in memory is very expensive. I had one customer send me a 500MB file that he wanted enlarged to fill a 4'x4' mural. I had to double my system memory just to convert it over. I finally decided on developing my own photo laser application called LRIP (Laser raster image processor). The most important thing to remember with PhotoGrav is, lower DPI works better than higher DPI. I run everything at around 250DPI. It makes a huge difference when engraving on Marble and Granite. Wood is much more forgiving. When I screw up on wood engravings due to the resolution too high, I run the piece of wood through my planer and it looks just dandy. ![]() I'd be happy to answer any question you may have. Have Fun! -Ed |
