| I have an MDX-15 and I'd like to engrave a rather complicated design in a small space. I have an engraving bit (.005) but am having a heck of a time using Dr. Engrave or 3D Engrave with my Illustrator file (or even a .BMP file). Am I using the wrong software? Would ANY software work with the MDX-15 and engraving? Help! |

| I tend to just use vectors, then make my toolpath machine directly along those vectors and let my choice of bit define the shape and depth of the cut. Much easier, faster and cleaner than multiple passes. With Artcam this is easy to do, but I assume most other general purpose CAD design programs will do the same thing or something similar. I don't find I need special purpose engraving software. Is that any help? |
