    no laser

My 60 watt Chinese laser engraver has no laser output. How can I test it to see if it's the laser tube burned out or no power going to the tube? Is the voltage to the tube DC or AC? What is the normal range of voltage?

    Hi Gary,

The voltage to the tube is DC and it is around 18,000 Volts. There are dangers to life with high voltages like this so please be extremely careful if you do devise a method of testing or measuring it.

Perhaps connecting a spark gap (3mm or so) across the tube then a short press of the test button would provide a visual indication of high voltage present.
