Upgrade of engraving machine

Can anybody assist me on how to upgrade my Meistergram Model: 912, stepper motors. My engraver was using the HPGL DOS version software but the builtin controller board is faulty n the manufacturer no more exist. I understand that I can upgrade my controller to use the windows OS and enable to engrave 3D softwares and new softwares. Does anyone have upgrade similar system and with limited change can made the old engraver to work like new machine. Many thanks

There is a fair bit of work involved but it is not difficult to do. If your existing stepper motors can be operated in bipolar mode (they have 4,6 or 8 wires) then one of the cheap (made in China) 3axis controller boards would be ideal. Something like this 3 Axis Stepper CNC Motor Driver Board Controller TB6560 on eBay (end time 24-Nov-10 05:10:10 GMT)
