    Default Engraving with CNC machine

so i got some parts at work we're trying to engrave with CNC Got aluminium going ok comes out looking good but i've broken 2 tips doing mild steel parts. Now im using a carbide .3 32?? degree engraving tip.

Anyone got some tips on feeds and speeds or a better yet tip to do it with?

    ATM i'm running 8000rpm and 125mm/min in x and y and 75mm/min in z

Ok figured out what was wrong my own fault for not checking gcode generated by camworks was a random 280mm/min z feed and 2300mm/min x,y feed. dont know how it did that but i guess it pays to go over your code before you run it was such a large file i only gave it a cursory inspection cost me 2 cutters before it was found.

How do you calculate your feedrate for engraving bits?

Ah not sure.I think when i create my tool in tech database it gives you a feedrate based on the specs you give it for the tool i just says its a 2 flute cutter even though it only 1.

I found stainless i having to run at about 30-40% of the feedrate listed above. Aluminium im leaving it as above but i cna go deeper with my cut up to .5 mm stainless and mild only doing a bout .2mm.

All in all been going reasonably well.
