What material is it?
What are the tolerances of the outer dimensions?
Obviously the tapped bottom needs machined to cleanup but are the other thre sides machined or can they be left flame cut or saw cut?

Material would be - aluminum/ oak/ PVC/ Steel -what is your spec?

If the outside edges of the part are free air then they dont need to be machined unless you want it done for appearance, this means the parts cost less to produce; also if the tolerance on the outer edges are +/-0.001 it would have to be machined as my saw and tape measure would be +/-0.030.
