CNC Milling in the UK (small batch's but regular)

I may have a need for a sub-contractor if it makes more sense than mortgaging the house & equipping myself to do it. (I have 3 business plans).

Simple 3 axis work but small batch's of 20-40 units (initially). Currently I have 5 differant products but if I go the contract manufacturing route this will quickly extend to 30+. Volume is entirely dependant on sales, part time I make 10 units but could sell 15 per week. Full time I could sell 50+ but would need to invest £50k in machinery to make them.

My current profit margins don't really translate into your world, from raw materials I make 95% profit per sale, I/we could easily clear a GPM of 60% !

I've tinkered with a high volume sub-contractor with spare capacity & frankly I don't want to go there again, not because of the profitability but because of the difficulties involved in a market that can't handle the 2000 units they want to produce.

Ideally I'm looking for a 1 man band or small business, whose initial patience with my lack of manufacturing expertise, will be rewarded with the loyalty of a person trying to tap a niche' yet highly profitable market. All work is in Aluminium, if you have a finishing capability all the better.

If you think you can help, please PM me.

Hi Babba,

I'm a UK based 1 man band with some spare milling capacity, and used to dealing with folk who don't necessarily have a great deal of experience in manufacturing but know the end product they want.

What sort of size are your components ?

best regards

Jonathan

I work from rough sketches all the time and have invented, manufactured and marketed my own products, and have 3 axis machining center
and turning center capabilities. I am on the west coast of the USA and shipping
might be a cost \ time issue. Of course if your parts are small that might not be too much trouble. PM or e-mail me if you think we could work together,.........Bob
