need cnc routed ocean scene for shower backsplash

I'm building a high end custom house for a guy in S. Florida. He is thinking about an ocean scene printed on his shower backsplash. I'm not a fan of the photographic idea, but I thought maybe a cool ocean scene carved with a cnc router would be awesome. I might even fill the scene with tabletop epoxy to leave a nice flat surface that is easy to clean. It's just an idea at this point, but he is not afraid to spend the money if he likes it. There would be two panels. Each about 4 to 5 feet wide and 6 feet high. I'll decide on the material later, but it could be wood, corian, starboard, etc.. Nothing most cnc routers can't handle. I'd do it myself, but my cnc router is only half finished. It's not a definite go, but before I push the idea with the owner I need to find somebody that has the capacity to rout such panels, as well as the ability to generate nice looking water/ocean(in CAD)for the scene.

Just an idea - Gerry (ger21) showed a set of mdf panels routed into a wave design - might be do-able as a design - and it would look "high end" -- but still have classic resale value too!

Consider making it as an open mold and just using fiberglass and (vinylester) resin? Would have the wave --but not buried in the "bar top" resin.

Cheers - Jim
PS looking forward to some pics when done -or in progress

Thats a great idea. I'm already molding other parts in fiberglass for the house. I think it will look better going this route. I will have to do a search for the post's you mentioned when I get home from work. Thanks for the help.

I think you need 3D relief... I see a Sunset scenery with few clouds and palm trees..

Ocean scene

Tim,
We would be interested in helping you out. Any thought of an ocean scene in S. Florida sounds pretty good right about now! Anyway, we have 2 large CNC routers, 6' x 10' capacity plus a fully staffed design department that could create the CAD data you're looking for.

If you interested, please feel free to contact me.
