aluminum cutting/bending/drilling/welding

Hi I have a small job. We need about 5 parts produced as described in the attached file. Most likely there will be more to come, maybe fifty. Also might have some variations on this part with different dimensions. Check out the pdf. Also I can send edrawing if that is helpful.

Tolerance is 0.1mm.

The part should be produced from aluminum, whatever type you feel is best for your process. It could be produced in several parts and welded together, or cut out of a single piece of 1/4" plate, whatever is easiest/cheapest given the small volume.

Some of the parts will be needed in Thailand, and some in the United States, so no particular preference for location.

Thanks,

David

David, are you sure you need that .1mm (.004") tolerance? Specifically, the 320mm dimension between the legs. If it's welded, that tolerance will not be realistic, and even worse if the parts are bent. Which leaves us with machining the entire thing, which will be very expensive.

My suggestion, if it's at all possible, is to relax the tolerance on atleast that one dimension so it can be formed on a press brake after machining. I think that's the least expensive way to make this part.

Thanks for pointing that out. The dimension between legs could be off by several millimeters and it wouldn't matter to me at all. The legs just have to be the same length.
