Need fitting to put air bleed valve in my street rod (41 Willys supercharged/injected). Since car is done I don't want to pull water pump off to drill to put bleed off valve in. So if I can get a fitting made I can add it on top of water pump. Make from 6061 Aluminum (polish center section of fitting, I can do if you don't polish) One end AN 10 other end 1/2" NPT with a port for 1/8" NPT in center for air bleed valve. Thanks to all who replied. I have two people who are willing to make fitting for me. Last edited by EDPACECAR; 01-02-2009 at 11:02 AM. Reason: Found someone to make fitting |

| If it were my car, I wouldn't bother to make that for myself. It will take longer to make than it would be to remove the water pump. You're also going to need to press in some nitrogen inserts for that 3/8 NPT thread. Nitrogen inserts are very expensive, but necessary when you put a 0.578 tap drill into a 0.500 thick boss.

| Will this work? You would have to tap the hole in the side though and maybe have some tig welding done to build up the hex area so it is wide enough to do the tapping. https://www.vichubbard.com/auto-part...-npt.html?js=y Its only $5 so you can afford two in case you screw up the first one. |

There isn't enough meat in the side to drill in a 1/8" NPT. But thanks! |

| M'kay, really dumb question: This is just for bleeding air out of the cooling system? Why don't you just crack the fitting to bleed it? Or why don't you just drill and tap for a small screw? What about a motorcycle or small car brake bleeder screw?

I have a bleed off valve that a small hose hook on too, this way no fluid gets on to any thing painted or polished. The car is a show car. If it was a daily driver I would have plenty of options. |
