Hi I'm trying to find a supplier in the UK that is capable of machining a sculpture of a bust into carrara marble from Laser Scan Data, (specifically an stl file). We're trying to get as much out of the data as absolutely possible, the sculpture is very detailed so therefore need someone prepared to use a very fine tool with a very fine tool path, hopefully leaving only very fine tool marks left to remove as it comes off the machine. We've done work like this before but unfortunately our suppliers machine has broken. We understand it's very expensive and time consuming but we've got a regular supply of this work if any body is interested. Many thanks Joe |

| Joe I saw in the delcam newsletter a while back, they carved a large face from granite or marble with a 5 axis machine. I think it was in the UK. Maybe you could try to contact them (www.delcam.com) and ask about the big face that as in their newsletter. I think it was some time this summer that it was in the newsletter. Good Luck Matt |

Thanks Keebler, yeah we've spoken to Delcam, unfortunatley they're too busy to take on the job and ideally we'd like to find someone dedicated to stone machining. Just as a thought does anybody know of any machines that are particularly good for machining marble, perhaps if I can find the dealer they could recommend a supplier. Thanks again Joe |
