prototyping and production of aluminum pin fin type heatsink | | Hi,
I'm looking for a company to produce some prototype aluminum heatsinks 12 inches square and approximately 1 inch deep. I can provide some basic drawing in Sketchup of what I want, however I will need some support in producing CAD files for actual manufacturing.
Initially I'd like to have two or three prototypes made so I can test the thermal properties. This will be an interactive process where I will have one piece made, do some testing, suggest some modifications to the design and then have another piece made, and so forth.
After the design is complete and thermal testing provides satisfactory results it will go into production. Production of an initial 50 pieces will begin in January, if possible.
This is for an LED lighting product. We already have advance orders from customers, and extremely positive feedback, so we are confident that the product will be a success. Currently we project that we might require 50 pieces per month, but as this is a new product from a startup company, anything could happen.
Due to weight and noise restrictions it will not be possible to use a normal extruded aluminum heatsink, and it has to be natural convection. That's why we need to make it pin fin. I'm open to suggestions on what technology to cost-effectively produce these things. Perhaps CNC for the prototypes and casting for actual production. Another suggestion was to start with an extrusion and cut it down using EDM. Extreme precision is not necessary.
I am located in Bangkok, so ideally I'd be looking for a company in Asia for the prototyping. Actual production could be located anywhere, and the production parts will be shipped to the United States.
I hope this wasn't too vague, feel free to ask questions. |
