Request For Quote For Wood Board Game Pieces

Hi,

We are in need of a price quote for wood game pieces for the board game called Armis.

Our immediate need is for 100 sets (36 pieces per set).
Photos of most of the game pieces can be seen here: http://docs.google.com/Doc?id=dgssv9cs_68f4j4p8

As you may see, changes were made to some game pieces (eg: copter/jet) so that they can be made easier with your CNC machines.

We are open to all questions ...

Lastly, please submit a lead time you can honor, and provide a bid in USD not hours. This bid request will officially close on October 5, thanks for your attention.

What kind of finish are you going to require on the wood pieces? While the geometry is faily simple, it may be a rather complex CNC operation. Do they need to be wood? Have you considered cast urethane?

Dpryor, thanks for your speedy reply; on your first point, the pieces need not be finished.

With regard to the second point, although we are open to any material (wood, stone, clay, urethane (is that plastic?),) we figured wood would generate us a very good looking product, a very fast turnaround, low upfront costs, and a very durable product.

Plastic injection molding will eventually be one whole aspect of the game's production, however only after we have gauaged market demand on a few levels.

We would welcome your quote for this job in 'urethane'.

Imo, it would be very expensive to get those made out of wood. Perhaps that is why you haven't got any quotes.

I don't see enough information in your .pdf to even guess. You should post some detailed, dimensioned drawings of all your parts.

I've edited the initial post with a different drawing, this one includes dimensions for all pieces.

We tried to make it as simple as can be, if this drawing was printed as layed-out the pieces would be the size we expect.

If there is a set of file extensions that are most desirable for the bidder please let me know and I will try to provide the file with one of those extensions.

Armis.

Instead of Solid Timber, would you consider a Marine or similar Plywood?.....

With your designs there are a lot of sharp corners/angles that would require several passes. Are radiused corner/s acceptable?..

cheers

Frans

Armis I tried opening the pdf in my 3d cad (Rhino) and it said unknown op.

Do you have these in a cad system? I don't know about everyone else, but I personally hate anything pdf! The only way I could quote on these would be to do a screen shot, import that into Rhino and then have to model each one individually. I promise you that you don't want people having to re-model or re-draft what you have already done.

To reinforce what has already been said......all the sharpe inside corners are going to make this a very expensive process, and quite honestly will keep people from bidding.

With the current rfq the only way I could bid on it would be a per hr price because I don't know how long it is going to take to re-draw everything.

If these are simple 2d shapes extruded in 3d, then I suggest that you submit a set of line drawings to a waterjet outfit. They can process wood, can cut sharp corners, etc., etc.

You show lines in front of the outline of the drawings. This seems to me to be 2 (or more) levels of cutting. Is this what you want?
