Hi guys, I wanted to know what you guys would quote me if you guys would make it. I would purchase it from http://www.preac.com/drill_press_accessories.htm but I want to see what you guys can quote me at. The more simple, the better. All I want is X,Y travel and something to clamp down the work piece. This works nice too: http://www.westerntool.com/product.htm?pid=426305 . I like this one a lot because it's very simply but it's a little high. I don't machine a lot but sometimes, I'd like to do. Thankx |

| DareBee has it about right. Its reasons like this the HF exists. Although I don't think I would buy something like that form HF. Just check out some of you local tool stores, someone is bound to have one. Now if you wanted t make a couple of hundred of these, someone on this board could probably compete price wise with the links you gave. JP |

I suspect you would have to throw in one more zero onto the quantity before coming close to the price in the links; maybe even two.

| Yeah I suppose so, with all of those little parts and what not plus having to get castings made. He would be far better off to just buy a Bridgeport with the table already built in. ![]() JP (woohoo 300 posts, what do I win ) |

| HF = Harbor Freight. Be careful, though. You get what you pay for. The table you listed from Western looks very nice, BTW. Scott

Sure is. Those guys are crazy saying they could do it that cheap; I would have charged double

| JP - I would make it out of billet (not cast) for a 1-off. I am probably on the low side for the one with the rotary. Re: the off-the-shelf price. - $80 ot to cover my admin costs to order material, issue POs & create an invoice. That leaves me about 10 minutes to design and build the cheap unit. Creating a design that is worthy of my standards and then making manufacturing prints is half the cost. I also didn't allow for any "incidentals" or warranty in my pricing. Live and learn.

No, no. Billet means you can double the price because of the mystique of saying it was made from billet material. Price is what you charge the customer. But making it from billet rather than cast on a one-oof probably means it will cost you less. Your profit is the difference between price and cost; just make sure you get them in the correct order if you want to stay in business.
