$30-35 an hour is a little more like it for Class A

Gentlemen, Wage figures for your trade vary in different parts of the country. If you live up north, or out west for instance, your $30-$35hr figures would actually be the equivalent of what we are offering - once you figure in for cost of living. Our $23hr for a first class machinist is very competitive in our region, if not better than what many shops pay. Figuring in for the price of housing/gas/etc, Houma enjoys a lower cost of living while having many of the amenities of much larger cities. This doesn't even take into consideration the attractive benefits package we offer, just salary. Plus, if you are an outdoorsman, the fishing and hunting can't be beat here in sportsman's paradise! For those content with where you are at, that is fine - stay put. For those interested in an excellent opportunity, and who are interested in a welcome change, we'd love to hear from you soon. Come grow with us and take the challenge, you'll be glad you took a chance! Ted Hackett ASAP industries, Inc. 985-851-7272 (Timmy Deroche) www.asapind.net http://www.houmatourism.com/ |

| Equivalent?? How so??? By who's perception??? Buyer or seller??? Yes, but gasoline and bread and milk and other food and utilities are NOT "regionally" adjusted for "cost of living" - neither are interest rates on housing loans "regionally . Gasoline ALONE is up nearly 100% over the past year.... Taxes don't get adjusted eiher. Besides, "competitive" may be due to a deflationary spiral that has set in/taken hold in that particular region. Would be interesting to see what the wage trends are/were over the past 3-5 years for that region. Ditto that for the cost of a house equivalent in size/footage/quality to what you have now. But with the deflationary spiral that IS currently descending upon the auto industry (R: Delphi and other outfits), this might be an "opportunity" just as it is being offered. Do a web search on the area - call the chamber of commerce. Call the local paper to see what's going on in the area. Job hunting is just as much a caveat emptor as any other sell/buy endeavor. |

It truely depends on the companies products and what they make as far as $$$$$$$$$$. ![]() Oh, as a note I live on Long Island NY, and in Binghamton NY I was offered 35% more than I make here as a Programmer/Setup/Operator. Seasoned Machinist like Class A make better $$$$ than that in Mississippi

| ASAPted, I feel your pain. I never thought that would ever be a time when a skilled machinist was few and far between. I wish I could find a few more people myself. I really wish that I could find someone that knew the difference between an inserted drill that is drilling and a inserted drill that is fusing itself to the part. I am sure that would be too much to ask. Although I believe that there are more people in Houma that can cut ring grooves and make DSA's than do job shop work. |

| What the hell is with this, ASAPted post for help, states the pay and benefits and you guys second guess his offer, so he may be getting a finders fee, so what, his time and effort is worth something, what is your point. There are cost of living differences and they can be substantial. If you are not interested in the job then ignore it. If I needed a job, $23 per hour with benefits is a lot better then unemployment.ASAPted But then America is so dang used to wanting top dollar for starters and work their way up from there that I find it unbelievable what unproductivity is worth. GM pays bonus's just for showing up for work ????????????????????????? The CNC zone used to be enjoyable, now it just pisses me off. Too many arrogant and all knowing . I'm done !!!!!!! Not enjoyable any more. Later |
