    JOB OPENINGS Tool Designers

    I currently have 10 openings for Tool Designers at the Rock Island Arsenal in Rock Island, Illinois.
    The positions are through my company HRU Technical Resources. We are the sole staffing agency for these positions as well as many others at the arsenal.

    The Positions have a government regulated pay rate of $30.26 per hour for first shift + benefits. Benefits include paid holidays (12) and vacation days (10) per year.

    Description of Work
    Create original designs of tooling components for use in a metal working production factory environment. Mill, Lathe, weld, and grinding fixtures: drill jigs, cutting tools, gauges, ect.

    Trouble shoot various manufacturing problems.

    Required Background:
    Unigraphics (UG) NX5 or newer
    Design experience (machining fixture, weld fixtures, die design)
    Modeling

    Tool Designer

    The Rock Island Arsenal is located on Arsenal Island, originally known as Rock Island, on the Mississippi River between Davenport, Iowa, and Rock Island, Illinois.
    The Tool Designer position is a contract position through my organization HRU Technical Resources. HRU Technical Resources is a contingent staffing firm, which specializes in engineering, IT and technically related placements across multiple industries. HRU is currently the sole staffing agency for this and many other positions at the arsenal. Contract positions at the arsenal through HRU are benefits eligible and are open ended long term unless otherwise specified.
    The Tool Designer position has a government regulated pay rate of $30.26 per hour for first shift. If assigned to an off shift or shift other than first a shift premium will be added to your hourly wage while working that shift.

    Description of Work
    The tool designer designs single- or multiple-edged machine cutting tools, such as broaches, milling-machine cutters, and drills, and related jigs, dies, and fixtures.
    Responsibilities:
    • Create original designs of tooling components for use in a metal working production factory environment. Mill, Lathe, weld, and grinding fixtures: drill jigs, cutting tools, gauges, ect.

    • Troubleshoot various manufacturing problems involving process, method, tooling, or programming and coordinate the solution with the appropriate branches.

    • Compile budgetary estimates and prepare acquisition forms for BOM items of the designed tool, or a piece of tooling.

    • Learn then utilize various computer software and systems including, but not limited to: Microsoft Office, CAPP, FACS, and TAMM’s.
    Required Experience:
    • 2+ years Design experience using Unigraphics (UG) NX5 or newer
    • 2+ years experience designing machining, weld, or NC fixtures
    • Experience designing dies, jigs, and molds
    • Trouble shooting designs
    • Modeling
    Qualifications:
    • Eligible for Security Clearance
    • Open to work any shift
    • Available for occasional overtime
    • Open to occasional weekend or holiday work
