Systems EngineerDescription: SYSTEMS ENGINEER
JOB DESCRIPTION

Our client is looking to fill four direct hire positions for Systems Engineers. Two of the positions have extensive international travel and two of the positions involve no travel.

Reports to: Director Design and Product Development

The Systems Engineer will be a key member of an aggressive product development team focused on developing and commercializing our client's fuel cell system. As part of a multidisciplinary team, the Fuel Cell Systems Engineer will be responsible for carrying out systems design related activities underlying our client's proprietary technology.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Develop system schematic and P&ID for various sub-systems and for the whole power plant system showing major components, pumps, valves, heat exchangers, blowers and various sensors. The fuel cell system will typically include air delivery, fuel delivery, thermal management, DC/AC conversion, fuel processor sub-systems
• Conduct system level trade studies to identify appropriate sub-system and system design
• Steady state mass and energy balance for a reformate based system
• Conduct system audits in the areas of - pressure drop, heat loss, auxiliary power etc. to maximize power plant efficiency
• Fuel cell power plant testing, troubleshooting and system optimization
• Process controls and controller software functional requirement development
• Power plant and sub-systems performance analysis, hardware verification testing, troubleshooting and root cause analysis
• Some domestic travel may be required to provide onsite customer support for installation and demonstration of a product
Qualifications:
• BS or MS (preferred) in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• 5+ years of Systems engineering experience
• Expert knowledge of Pro/II or Aspen plus is highly desired. Experience with Matlab/Simulink and other equivalent modeling software is a plus.
• Successful candidate will be highly hands-on and hardware oriented
Personal Skills:
The position requires a high level of drive and flexibility to work in a rapidly developing entrepreneurial environment. The successful candidate will be a resourceful problem solver, team player with excellent interaction skills, and capable of rapidly integrating observations and results into products and manufacturing technology.
