Hi all, not an official POC of this company, but we need to fill these two spots for Applications Engineers. For applications, please email resume and position title to Russel Estill (estillr@focushope.edu) in HR, if you have any questions feel free to PM myself. A note though, our last attempt to hire for this position finished safety training and then quit for a better offer, while this isn't a contract position we would appreciate that you stay the duration of our contracts with the DoD. A further note, Focus:HOPE is a community leader in our local area of Detroit, Davison and the Lodge, providing services such as food for the elderly and the young, training in manufacturing, Information Technology, Weather Proofing, and Nursing, affordable child care, and family development training, if any of this bothers you, or if giving up one Sunday a year for the Focus:HOPE WALK bothers you, you probably shouldn't apply.

Which is more important? Strong commitment to civil and human rights or strong knowledge of metal cutting processes? In other words, could I be strongly committed to civil and human rights yet be absolutely crappy at cutting metal? Or could I be an exemplary metal cutter who has spent absolutely no time thinking about civil and human rights? Just curious.

I didn't mean disparage this organization, it's just that their top two requirements set off my irony detector. The implication as I read it is you are presumed to be bigoted unless you prove otherwise, particularly if you possess technical skills. What ever happened to presuming you are a good person unless and until you prove otherwise?

Well, since a non-technical attribute heads the list, I assume it's an exceptional requirement on par with the technical requirements. It is seemingly mean-spirited because it assumes fair-mindedness is a special skill most people do not possess much like most people don't have "Advanced CAD and CAM abilities". I think you can answer the question yourself after a bit of reflection; possessing a certain trait or skill is the opposite of not possessing that skill or trait. Can you provide an alternate way that can that be parsed?

| Mariss, Your way of spinning this thread into something that may be negative is perplexing. For a logical person of your stature I don't understand what you are implying. Jeff...

I noticed something that tickled my sense of irony and I mentioned it, that's all. I was giving you the courtesy of answering your questions so it's sad to see someone take an accusatory tack like this when nothing malevolent or harmful was intended. Please have a nice day and don't go gunning for people.
