Hi, I am looking for a company that can cut 24 gauge stainless number 8. The product will be Christmas ornaments that will have a diameter of 3 inches. I have dxf and dwg files available for those who wish to quote. I will start with 100 each of five different designs. The Laser needs to be able to cut the parts cleanly so that the product is ready to go on the shelf directly from the laser. This could be an ongoing production so I would like to keep with an established company only . Please email me at gofast_89@hotmail.com if you are interested Thank you Dan |

| I hate to break it to you but 5 different parts at 100pcs each isn't exactly a large production run on modern laser equipment. I'm not saying that you're barking up the wrong tree, just letting you know that if each part takes 20 minutes to program (which might be longer than it takes to cut 100 parts in 24ga) then you're looking at anywhere from $100-$200 just in programming costs unless you find a shop so desperate for work that they give you the programming free. We run 3 Trumpf sheet lasers at work, a 6000 watt, a 5000 watt, and a 4000 watt. I'd bet our prices are comparable to or better than most shops as we are a dedicated job shop(excluding the above mentioned people desperate for anything). I've been with the company for 4 going on 5 years and the company didn't lay off a single one of the 170 employees during the recession, and we had a record month in August. We must be doing it right to still be in such good shape after the last couple of years. One thing I'll add is that if you have lots of small detail you run the risk of more noticeable burrs on the back edge of the cut in tight corners. With it being 24ga it shouldn't be bad, but the potential is there even with a .006" laser kerf. A fast machine helps this situation because the time it takes to decelerate and re-accelerate back out of the corner minimizes any extra heat in that spot. I used to be the tube laser operator at work, but now supervise forming and bending, so I can't personally give you a quote on your parts, but if you want you can check out the place where I work, and they have contact info on their web page. www. tmcoinc . com (yes I know it's got extra spaces, I'm not sure what the rules are about posting a website address here) |

It's possible you might get a quicker response and/or slightly better deal if you mention that Henry Kloepper referred you. Sometimes knowing a name can get things moving quicker since we're a very busy shop. |
