Spacer Bolt - Request for quotes | | We currently manufacture this part in small quantities but I’m interested in the potential for outsourcing it. I’m interested in quantities of 50, 100, 500, 1000. Material is 6061-T6 Aluminum, raw finish. In terms of tolerances, the height is critical (+/- .005); The threads just need to work (1/2-13-UNC-2A and 2B); the space where the male thread meets the body is not critical, it is simply for relief and can be less than the 1/8" shown; the chamfer on male thread is mainly cosmetic but is needed to make threading easier; the chamfer on the female portion can be less than shown, but not more; the thru-hole can be slightly larger or smaller than the 1/8" hole shown; the bottom of the female hole needs to be flat (drill is not going to work there); the flats on the outside are for a 5/8" wrench so slight variance is okay there. Overall, cosmetic appearance is important (tap and die won't work on threads). I think I've covered most of the details, but if not let me know and I can answer any questions.
Questions:
Depth of female thread? - The female thread depth needs to be 1", but slightly less is okay if tooling interference with the base of that whole is an issue.
Are semi-circles from tooling acceptable at the base of the flats? - Yes, that will work.
