What qualites should I look for in a good stepper motor?

I just picked up a EMCOMAT 20E lathe for cheap, and I'm starting to plan out a retrofit to full CNC.

What should I look for in a quality stepper motor??

I should be a square, rather than a round body. Generally motors with low voltage ratings (say around 2-3V) will have a flatter torque curve than higher voltage motors. With a typical chopping drive like a Gecko, you run then at between 10x and 25X rated voltage.

Look a Kelinginc.com for a wide selection of motors with torque curves.
