| I'm also interested in finding out more about this machine. Not a lot of info on it out there. The compact 5 seems to be pretty popular for retro fitting, but the concept turn series, well, not so much. Factory has an upgrade path to Windows 7 if it's new enough, but as far as folks doing it from scratch I don;t see much avalaible. I know the original was a 12K machine, and a new one today is 9K. |

| The emco concept 55 turn is an very good lathe in my experience. I use this machine practically everyday mon-friday at school for the past two years. It's good for small work (being as its a small lathe, lol), and training in cnc lathe programing. The one I use has the Fanuc 21tb controller installed currently. I'm not sure on the pricing though, I could swear I've hear my teacher say something about it being 25k when other students were fooling around near the machine durring his rant ("blah blah blah this is a f***ing $25,000 machie and your going to f*** around near it and end up braking it blah blah blah"). But don't quote me on that price, he likes to say things cost far more than they do. About the only cons I can think of is the size( kinda limits the amount of work possible) and the turret size (6 stations, 3 for tools such as right hand, left hand, grooving, threading, etc.. and 3 for drills, boring bars, etc...) Well hope this helps, Max |
