| Need help on a project. Hello, I am building a 1:8 scale live steam locomotive called a Heisler. The left and right side frame pieces are suppose to be made up of a number of pieces silver soldered together. I don't like that idea and afterwards you have to "adjust them" from all the heat warpage. I am going to make the side frames out of a single piece of CRS. I know this is going to be more stock removed than kept, but at least it will be straight. I would like to have the frames wire EDM cut out from a single blank. Here are the rough specs. 5/8" cold rolled steel. .625 thick, 5.75 tall, 52.875 long. You can go to www.212steam.blogspot.com and check out the screen shots of my blog to get an idea of what the frame is suppose to look like. If anyone would be interested in doing this, let me know. Thanks, Martin Last edited by Mr. LocoMartin; 01-06-2009 at 06:46 PM. Reason: misspelled word |

| Cool project Martin. The 52" length puts it outside the work area of most wire EDM's. It may be more suitable for plasma or water-jet cutting. Cheers! Roy Solomon |
