SODICK WIRE EDM MARK 21

Dear All.
I have SODICK A500 wire cut edm machine.
I can not transmit and received data via RS232 interface. I do not known why although i used cable same with fanuc cnc. operation follow with sodick manual.
Now i must use floppy disk for transmit data from pc.
I have 02 user disk from sodick but i don't known the way to read and write that disk. For testing I installed windows 98 and windows 2000 but my computer can not read and write floppy.
Anybody have experiment for this case please show me the way to solve this problem.

that generation of sodick machines had an specific issue with serial, wich had something to do with the bit transcription of the serial. I can't tell you precisely what that is, but it is not an easy thing to solve with an ordinary pc. Sodick used to provide a separate pc unit to program, with the same soft as the machine, and that worked fine, naturally.
As wire cut programs don't have so many blocks, they are easy to copy on disks, but you must use the 720k format, instead of the normal 1.44mb. First of all, do not format disks on the machine, but in the pc. If you can format them in 720 (it is an option that win98 normally has), there´s an even more simple solution. 720k format it is not more than a one-side format. Have you ever realized that floppy disks have TWO holes in the corners? One is to protect them from writing, and the other one is to block one side of the disk. Cover it with a tape, and the disk will automatically become into a 720k one. Try these two options, the file extension for sodick is .nc, from a normal text file. You should be able to make it work so.
PS: this has just one problem. Disks normally become useless after a couple of weeks, due to electric noise from the machine. I found just one solution to that... I bought many of them. Hope was helpful

the link below is a pinout for the sodick cable. Your cable pinout for the fanuc may be different than the sodick machine. Check in the parameters for parity check and what baud rate the machine is set to also. If you start to get info but it is all messed up change the baud rate. there is a device sold for rs232 connectors that can test the cable coming out of the machine and also the cable coming from the computer. I've recently purchased a A320D-AWT, & i'am facing the same problem , I am trying to load program from my windows xp , but m/c doesn't reads it , so I Blocked Right Hand Side slot , formatted the disc in the m/c on 720kb & then re-write the program , and again tried to load on the m/c , but m/c doesn't accept it ,
Should i go for another pc with o/s WIN 98 ? Or any other way out ?

HI ALL PLEASE help us solvin , I HAVE A350SS SODICK FROM FOUR MONTHS M/C IS NOT WORKING , IF TRY TO RUN M/C, IT RUN'S FOR FEW HOURS AND THE WIRE STARTS TO BURN AND CREATS A MARK(LIKE SOLDRING) ON NOZZLE COVER AND THE MOZFET BLASTS IN SMS BOARD ,AND IF AGAIN WE TRY THE M/C TO RUN AFTER CHANGING THE MOZFET , THE SAME RESULT WE GET , PLEASE HELP ME BY GIVING SUGGETION TO OUT COME THIS PROBLEM,

Why dont you just upgrade the floppy to a USB port and eliminate all that.
