Charmilles Robofil 300 question

Hello all!
I have had an issue with this old machine in the last few months. It has been eating through upper contacts and wearing out my sapphire pre-guides alot faster than it ever has in the past years. Any advice and/or ideas what the issue may be?

Cheers
RT

As for the diamond guide it may be explained if your are doing tapered cuts more frequently.

The following is based on my experience with the Robofil 290 and 510

Sounds like your not getting any top wetting.

You may have a plugged line/passage or a bad solenoid preventing water getting to and lubricating those areas.

Is there any water coming out of the hole in the plexiglass cover over your top contact?

If not, you will need to disconnect the water line from your upper head and see if it is supplying water.

It should be the front-right connection on the top block.

If the line is supplying water, you will have to disassemble the upper portion of your top head and clean all the water passages.

As long as you do not remove the guide you shouldn't need to do a guide alignment, but it couldn't hurt to do one anyway.

If the line is not supplying water you probably have a bad solenoid in the back but I am not sure which one.

Have you changed contact supplier or are they from a new batch? I had a batch of power feed contacts that ate right through them. I know people have experimented with different grades of carbide and increased speed but also decreased contact life...
