Cut Monitor i setup

I've been trying to setup the cut monitor i that came with a Fanuc Robocut alpha-iC EDM. I'm having problems in finding out whether I need to connect my pc to a hub then from the hub to the edm? Any ideas? I cannot seem to make a connection straight from my pc to the edm through ethernet cable

Well I'm not going through either one... I'm just going straight from my pc to the edm with an ethernet cable. Do I need to go through a hub? I'm a noob at this so I really don't have any idea

if it is like a standard PC you will either have to connect through the Hub if you go static on the IP or through a router so the router can assign the IP through DHCP. You may also look into running a crossover cable (different from standard network cable) if you are just wanting to run a wire from the PC to the machine.

THanks sodickappsguy.... I really don't want to use the hub because I only want to connect one machine so a crossover cable sounds more convenient.

Where did you get the FANUC Cut Monitor i Software? We are running an Alpha-1iD. I was able to get it on our network. It was quite annoying that it wanted to use 192.168.1.1 by default. However I am unable to find this software to see if I can get a PC to connect to it. I cannot ping the IP I have assigned to it. Then again my experience with Windows CE is zero and I do not know how Windows CE handles ICMP packets via its TCP/IP stack.

I would appreciate any information.
