We have a fairly new Agie Progress 2 (wire EDM), it's a great piece of kit but there is 1 problem. We regularly cut a multi aperture job (260 small holes to skim) but if the AWT (Auto Wire Thread) misses 3 times, the job just stops until there is operator intervention in the morning. I used to operate a Sodick AQ325L and i'm pretty sure you could set this so that if the AWT missed, then it would move onto the next aperture and carry on cutting. Did i dream this or is it possible, and if so is it possible on the Agie? Any comment would be greatly appreciated! |

Hello, This is to be set in the events, at the machine level. I think that there is an event called "behaviour at wire break" or something like that and there should be a lot of options there. The machine should not miss the wire threading at all by the way. If the workpiece is very thin and the upper head is close to the workpiece, try the "raise z at threading"-option. It helps a lot sometimes. / Rikard |
