Hi all. I am just starting to learn about Wire EDM's. What mfr's are the high end EDM's, and which are low end mfr's I should stay away from? What is the reasoning? Any help would be a good start for me. |

| The main CNC ones out there are (in no order) Fanuc, Sodick, Makino, Mitsubishi, Agie,Charmilles (now merged to one company). Others that are out there from older days are Japax, Hitachi. Accutex is a newer machine out there but i dont think alot of them yet. I have a few in my area but i havent heard many great things out of them but i would think in time it will be a good low cost machine. There are tons of manual sinkers out there so i wont even try and touch that list. I am sure i am forgetting one or two so forgive me. Every person on here is going to claim one brand is a cut above the rest but all have strengths and weakness. The main thing is that each machine brand is each has a different control than the other so once a person masters one control they dont want to swap to a different MFG. Trust me when i say that cause i do alot of training on new machines and i would say 7 out of 10 people have a hard time learning a new machine and not trying to run the new machine/brand like the old machine/brand. |
