Need help! 4 axis wire edm.

I have a Fanuc Robocut with 16-wb control. Manual Z axis. I'm tying to cut two diffferent patterns at top and bottom of a part. TEARDROP at top. CIRCLE at bottom. It would be very helpful if someone could explain start to finnish what needs to be done in control and what type of programming is best to use. i know there are couple different ways to do it. 4d Direct and 4d taper I think . Right now any help would be gratefully apreciated !

I'm sure you have already figured this out on your own but I have a Fanuc wire machine also and Fapt software. I could program this for you if needed.

You will have to do some reading on program planes.

On one program plane you have the teardrop shape, on another you have the other shape. I have not dwelved into this area enough to reliably comment, however it would seem that this shape is almost impossible to attain, since the shape on the upper program plane is inherently affected by the shape on the lower program plane.

This will have to be done with 4 axis independent programming. Not taper. I use a sodick machine but the principles are the same. You need to make a set of code for the top profile and the bottom profile. Both have to have the same number of entities. So you must break the circle up into many pieces to match the number of entities in the teardrop. If I had the geometry I could use Esprit to program the part for you and post for your machine.
