Parts Source for Home Built EDM | | Hey everyone, it's been some time since I've posted because I was busy at work and with moving. Finished up with my X2 conversion although I still may swap out for larger control motors. I'm ready to get into my next project which I've decided will be wire EDM. Not looking for anything really high powered or anything, I mostly just want to be able to cut smaller gears (<7" diameter). Most of my research so far has been focused on the cutting power supply even though I haven't done any testing as of yet. Now that I'm getting to the mechanical side I realize I don't have any parts sources for EDM. Of particular interest to me are the wire guide wheels and smaller ball screws, but in general I don't know of any good places to buy parts for this. I say smaller ball screws because I am most familiar with 1/2" shaft size, which is more than a little overkill since it's only for moving the wire head around. Has anyone had any reasonably decent success with getting good precision out of lead screws? Thanks. |
