Hi, Can anyone tell me if an Sinker EDM machine used in a home shop on a 120 VAC line will create any sort of interference on the line. I would not want to mess up anybody's TV or radio programs. If there is an interference problem, what can be done to remedy it? Thanks, Ernie |

| It shouldn't really effect the line, but to be on the safe side use a line conditioner (salvage one from a old computer supply). The thing you have to worry about is RF,radio frequency. The spark gap is basically the same thing that the old Marconi/Tesla short wave transmitters used. cary |

| Back in the old days when folks got their TV reception from the air waves you bet there was a lot of interference problems. I had a guy that had a machine that I could not figure out why it would drop out of cycle after he went home at night. Found a little hole broken in the window near the machine. Caught the neighbor sticking a rod through the hole and hitting the button. He was real pissed cause it messed up his TV. But the zonning was right for the business. I think he put lead foil around the sides and top of the machine to block the RF. I know there are written instructions and drawings of how to contain an EDMs RF waves in a residential area. later Jim |
