    Lathe Roughing Cycle

Does anyone else have this problem? or a solution?
On the Fanuc controller, when using the G72 Roughing cycle the controller is capable of doing undercuts if the cycle is written with both an X and Z move in the first line of the canned cycle (the line number designated by the letter P , This is called a type II cycle) If just one axis move is put in the line the the cycle is then no undercuts are preformed in the cycle.
The problem Is that the post will not put both an X and Z move in the first line , I have the the canned cycle checked and ignore undercuts is NOT checked so the post Should insert both X and Z , But it doesn't. So I turned on the debug and found that the line comes from the general motion rapid move, and I turned on the force now option, But the post still wont force both Axis
If both axis were used every time it shouldn't cause any problems because the edgecam cycle would control weather on not the undercut would happen by programming the undercut in the profile.
By using the canned cycle the programmer is able to make subtle changes easily at the machine and saving time by not having to make changes on the computer ,regenerating and transferring the program

I figured out how to solve this problem, all I had to do was add some code in the rapid post and the roughing post . If anyone is interested in solving this problem let know

I had the same problem. Edgecam doesn't seem to like you using canned cycles very much, I've had all sorts of weird code thrown out from them.

The classic one is where you choose the stock as a start point, and instead of picking up the position of where you clicked it, the post throws out the co-ords of the end of that entity. Very very stupid.

I get round it by using a rapid move to where I want the canned cycle to start, and then don't choose a billet/start position - just right click and it will use the current tool position. This also gives you an exact co-ord postion you can actually see in the instruction tree instead of edgecams weird insistance on thowing out odd decimal positions where you're not really sure where the tool is starting from.

On a similar note - does anyone know why if you use the new 'termination x' and 'termination z' options in the new roughing cycle it greys out the canned cycle option?
