profile lead in/out

edgecam won't allow the lead to be less than half the tool diameter
on the profile lead tab I got:
0 angle
0 radius
1.75 lead

the tool is a 4" slitting saw
when I do it this way, the graphics shows no lead at all, with the saw crashing into the corners of the parts at the beginning and on the retract

as soon as I increase the lead to 2.00, it works fine
this was the same with a 1" endmill on the same job

Am I gonna have to extend my geometry and use no lead in order to get what I want here?

well, turns out that extending is the best way for me
not the geometry but the start/end points
on the start/end tab I put 1.75 for each and it works
works better too, since the code doesn't end up with
extra feed moves for the lead in/out

TRY USING SHARP CORNERS INSTEAD OF ROUND(CONTROL TAB I THINK)

I HAVE USED LEADS SEVERAL INCHES LONGER THAN THE DIAMETER OF THE CUTTER FOR SLITTING (POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE) WITH NO PROBLEM

Remember that Leads are designed to be used as such and not as extensions, it may work in some situations but not in all. If you are trying to extend a profile off of a part but do not wish to have a lead then you should use the "Profile Extension" on the "Start/End" tab.

Talking lead in lead out

i always use half the tool size +.200 for the leads so my machine wont re-calculate the program . by the way the anilam 5000m & 1400 controls can be
unforgiving at times when you try to shave off machine times.
