Hi, I need to get some opinions on Edgecam Lathe software. The company I work for has a Nakamura-Tome WT-300 Gantry Lathe (Upper/Lower Turrets, Main/Sub Spindles, C-Axis, B-Axis transfer and Y-Axis in the upper turret)...Currently, we have Surfcam Velocity, which programs all our other machines, but not the Nakamura. 2-years ago, the last supervisor bought into Mastercam X with a promise from the sales guy that it would work...Never did! The Demo I was given today looks promising, but I'd like some real user input! Can this software program our machine in a single session? How is their service? I haven't received any quotes yet, but how much (if you don't mind sharing) did your seat cost? If you guys don't mind sharing the opinions, I'd really like to hear them! THANKS!

I have never found cam software to be helpful on anything but a single spindle machine. The cam software makes a program so slow you loose the cost of the program in excessive machine time. Everyone in our shop programs their machine by "hand". Thats the only way to get the best performance out of you twin spindle machine.

Hello, I have good experiences about programming multitask machines with edgecam. Simulation works quite well and is wery useful for that kind of machines. If you are familiar with parametric or basic programming you shoud be ability make postproseccor by self, witch is excellent choise if you know exactly what kind of code your machines need.
