Wink Creating a Post & Calling a subroutine

Well this is my first post here at CNCzone, so we will see how it goes.

I have worked with EdgeCam for several years now and I think its a great program. I few years ago we upgraded a controller on a old CT Arrow 500. The new controller is from MachineMate and operates from the controller in an Windows 2000 inviroment using touch screen and std M & G code.this machine is used for basic poking holes and tapping, I created a Post and it seems to be working fine until I get to the point of creating subs. On this controller Subs are stored outside the program but in the same folder with the main program. I like this because if I need to use a sub in multiple programs I just call for its location and name.
Example:

(subname) P00001

%
P01 (GURHING 14MM MACH. LENGTH DRILL)
N10 M03 S690
N20 M08
N30 Z.100
N40 G10
N50 G83 X-1.5748 Y-.7874 Z-1.5 R.100 I.375 F7.0
N60 X-6.2992
N70 Y-5.5118
N80 X-1.5748
N90 G80
N100 G00 Z2.0
N110 M30

Question one: Can Edgecam create subs outside the main program?
Question two: what is the exact format of setting subs up Code Wizard?

Any Help would be Great.......

Hi

I dont think edgecam can create subprograms at all. I mean what would be the point? it would create one big program for different operations. (I could be wrong)

You would have to create each program on edgecam individually, then send them into your machine and call them up in your main program.

Someone else may have a different idea....
good luck
Lee

I think it is an option you can tick on in the postprocessor. We use subs everyday with EC. Main and sub programs are in 1 NC file. When it is send to the control it is alle there.

If you create a post in the Code Wizard, it creates subs by default.
