Hi Guys, I am using edgecam 11.5 which works great but I am having a problem with slotting. Whichever way I select the slot operation the code generated does the slot in 1 cut. ie 12 mm which would end up busting things. I have tried setting the cut increment in cycles/slot but it still wants to do the cut in 1 go. Any help is much appreciated Les |

| I know nothing about your CAM system and I'm sure you want to find a way to make multiple passes, but there are 4 flute coated Carbide endmills with a variable helix that are capable of cutting slots a full diameter deep with a 3/8" endmill and even more than 1/2" with a 1/2" endmill in mild steel and even HT 4140. If you ned more info, message me. Typical specs for 1018 steel, 1/2" endmill: 3600 rpm, .0025-.003" feed per tooth, which yields between 36 and 43 inches per minute cutting a full 1/2" deep running dry. Any normal endmill would snap at half the depth. Dave |

| Moxy On the first page of the slotting cycle options there should be a 2d or 3d option for the slot cycle. If you tick the 3d lot cycle option you can give it an incremental depth of cut which is not available when using the 2d option. The only thing is that the line you digitise for the toolpath must be at the starting Z height of your cut cycle as the depth comes from your line. Alternatively you can just do several 2d slot cycles with increasing cutting depths. Hope this helps. |
